Elections

Georgia has a LOT of elections between now and the end of 2026, and the candidate lists are still changing. This list is updated weekly.

What’s on the ballot & key dates

For the 2026 cycle in Georgia, voters will choose:

  • Governor

  • Lieutenant Governor

  • Attorney General

  • Secretary of State

  • Agriculture Commissioner

  • Insurance & Safety Fire Commissioner

  • Labor Commissioner

  • State School Superintendent

  • Public Service Commission – 2 seats

  • U.S. Senate – 1 seat (Jon Ossoff’s)

  • All 14 U.S. House seats

  • A huge number of county, municipal, school board, and judicial races

Statewide offices

Every Georgian votes on these

These offices are not district-based – they cover the whole state:

  • Governor

    • Controls/influences: state budget, agencies (housing, transportation, corrections, health, environment), Guard activation, and big education priorities.

    • Why it hits the standard of living: statewide policies on housing affordability, Medicaid, school funding, criminal justice, tax rates, and disaster response.

  • Lieutenant Governor

    • Presides over the state Senate and shapes which bills get heard.

    • Can fast-track or block laws on taxes, schools, abortion, guns, criminal justice, and utility oversight (via PSC-related legislation).

  • Attorney General

    • State’s top lawyer: sues or defends over consumer protection, environmental regulation, voting rights, policing, and corporate misconduct.

    • Can join national suits that affect drug prices, student loans, etc.

  • Secretary of State

    • Runs elections, maintains business registrations, and performs some securities functions.

    • Directly impacts how easy/hard it is to vote, which matters for everything else.

Also up in 2026: Ag, Labor, Insurance, Schools Superintendent, potentially PSC seats – all of which tie into food systems, wages/unemployment, healthcare costs, and utility rates.
